Main Task - Evaluation Questions.

Evaluation

1. In what ways does your media product use (develop or challenge) forms and conventions of real media products?
Overall I believe that my media product has both developed and challenge forms and conventions of a real media product. I think I have displayed my development of the forms and conventions throughout my front cover, contents page and double page spread. My magazine follows the conventions of a real music magazine because it has one main image, which relates to the main article of the magazine, a bold title and numerous cover lines. Ways in which my magazine challenges the conventions of a real media product is because my product has numerous pictures not just one main image. My contents page also follows the forms and conventions of a real music magazine because much like my front cover I have chosen to us one main image which is one of the main articles for the magazine, articles sectioned under different title so then the audience is not confused by the layout of the contents page and also the title of the magazine is on the content page in the same font to connect the front cover to the contents page. However it does challenge the conventions of a real media product my content page has more than one many image. Also my double page spread sticks the conventions of real music magazines, I have used an image which is one side of the double page then writing on the other side, the name of the artist bigger than the other writing and a by line.
2. How does your media represent particular social groups?
I believe that my media product represents indie fans in a positive way. I think I have portrayed indie fans as fashionable because of the clothes everyone on the front cover, content page and double page are wearing. Also they are portrayed as being friendly, they are portrayed as this because of their facial expressions and the way they are standing or posing.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
The distribution of my magazine is totally based on my genre of indie,
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
My ideal audience member for my magazine, is a fan of indie music. If they weren’t a fan of indie music they wouldn’t be interested in my music magazine. Ideally they would be in the age between 16-25, the younger ages also being in school, because my magazine shows people who are still in school, young artists.
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
6. What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing this product?
I have previously throughout school I have used Photoshop therefore I was familiar with the technology of Photoshop. However I have never used Quark before therefore I had to learnt how to use it, Quark is best used for contents pages and double page spread because there are guide lines on the page to keep the writing, picture and titles in the write place. I have learnt in Quark how to import picture, create text boxes and making banners on the top of the page.
7. Looking back at your preliminary task what you feel you have learned from the progression from it to the full product?
